the Leonardo prize
for Italian quality

Today, Marilisa Allegrini received the Premio Leonardo Qualità Italia 2019 (Award) in Rome, presented for excellence in ‘Made in Italy’ products in various industrial sectors. The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Allegrini was awarded as a “family business dedicated to the production of wine for generations and committed on the frontline to the enhancement and promotion of the Valpolicella”.
“Knowing that I [represent] one of the excellences of our country – says Marilisa Allegrini – fills me with pride and gives me even more energy to do better and better. I come from a family of farmers who have always directed their efforts to the production of wine. My father Giovanni taught me to combine the concept of business with the enhancement of the territory, in my case Valpolicella. Armed with this principle, in 1983 my brothers and I took the helm of the company and made it into one of the most important companies, in terms of quality, in Italian winemaking. In 2001 I set down roots in Tuscany, first in Bolgheri and then in Montalcino. In 2008 I realized my dream with the purchase of Villa della Torre, one of the most exquisite examples of Italian Renaissance architecture, the work of the great Maestro, Giulio Romano. With the female entrepreneurial mindset that represents so much of the success of ‘Made in Italy’ products in the world, since 1983 I have focused my attention on promoting the wines produced by my family. I have done so by traveling the world and explaining, with love and passion, how much wine sits side by side with the art, culture, history and beauty of our country. So with pride, I can truly say that I have become its ambassador! After this year so full of challenges and unknowns, I feel that we must ride the optimism of a reawakening, because this beloved Italy of ours is fully entitled and has all the resources to overcome this hugely difficult moment in the history of humanity. I will continue to carry out my mission with commitment and determination, mindful of the past, aware of the present and with an optimistic look to the future. This is the commitment that we all must make in the face of future generations, trusting in ourselves to become a better country”. (photo: Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic).
